To get the most out of your little vela, please consider the following:
The first time you light the candle, allow it to burn until the liquid wax covers the entire top of the candle. This breaking in process ensures that it will perform better and more evenly throughout the life of the candle. This helps prevent "tunneling" as it burns, which leaves wax along the sides of the container.
For an optimal melt pool, plan on burning your candle for one hour for each inch your candle is in diameter. For example, MLV candles are 2.5 inches wide at the top, so give your candle at least 2.5 hours to reach a full melt pool. A good melt pool gives off the strongest scent.
Keep the wick trimmed to about 1/4in. This helps prevent the candle from smoking and causing soot.
If you notice a large flame during burning, extinguish the flame and trim the wick before lighting again.
Place candles on a heat resistant surface.
Never move the candle while it's burning or while the wax is still melted.
Keep the candles away from anything flammable.
Keep the candles away from children and pets.
Keep your candles away from drafty areas of your home to prevent smoking and soot.
Do not leave your candle unattended.
When you are done using the candle for the day, allow the candle to cool and solidify, then replace the lid. This prevents dust buildup in the candle.
